Crossroads in Toronto is bringing the new Christian Feature Film Courageous to theatres in Canada. This is a wonderful family film that touches upon an important topic, Fatherhood.
My name is Jimmy Broyden and I am a Canadian who lives in British Columbia. I had the priviledge of being the Stunt Coordinator on the next Kendrick Bros./Sherwood Pictures (Flywheel, Facing The Giants and Fireproof) Christian feature film called Courageous.
On July 26th I received a phone call from Stephen Kendrick telling me that it is coming to theatres all across Canada on September 30, 2011. Last summer my 13 year old son Isaac flew down to Albany, Georgia with me for the 3 weeks to film the stunts. The Kendrick Brothers also let Isaac be an extra and Alex Kendrick let Isaac call ‘ACTION’ and ‘CUT’ for one scene. They let me have a cameo appearance as the Truck Driver where I say a line or two and slide/skid a pick-up truck toward lead actor Ken Bevel (Fireproof) who is down on the ground. Ken plays Police Officer Nathan Hayes.
I also Stunt Doubled the lead actors (Alex Kendrick, Ken Bevel, Kevin Downes, T.J Stallings, Ben Davies) for their driving stunts. I had Captain Dodds of the Albany Police Department do a burnout in his police car and travel down back alleys at high speeds. I Stunt Doubled Ken Bevel for a stunt where I hang off of the side of a Ford truck and my feet drag/scrape the ground while the truck drives erratically at high speed.
Other than that we used No Stunt Doubles. The actors executed ALL of their own stunts safely and no one was injured. In one stunt I drive a Ford truck straight into a big old oak tree at 24 mph. These are just a few of the stunts we safely executed. There is alot of action in this movie. Courageous will be playing in Kelowna, Vancouver and Victoria in BC.
For more information about the Canadian Release in theaters:
I have been working hard for over a year to make folks across Canada aware that Courageous might be coming to theaters, and now it is finally here. Please do what you can to inform people in your local area/city/community about this groundbreaking movie. Do what you can to network with the Christian community, churches, schools, radio stations, organizations, police departments etc. We cannot do this alone. We need your help. Please be praying to the Lord for our country, that this film will make an impact and lives will be transformed by the glorious gospel of our Great God and Savior the Lord Jesus Christ.
If you have any questions, need updates or if you would like me to speak about Courageous at your church, school, on the radio, television or organization, please email me at email@example.com or call me at 250-546-9193 and let me know how I can assist you. If possible, I would like to be booked for engagements thru Sherwood Baptist Church in Albany, Georgia so as to give them a portion of my Speaking/Booking fee so they can put it back into their film ministry. If you book me directly I will send them the 10 or 15% Speaking/Booking fee.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Hope to see you at the movie,
Four men, one calling: To serve and protect
As law enforcement officers, Adam Mitchell, Nathan Hayes, and their partners are confident and focused. They willingly stand up to the worst the world can offer. Yet at the end of the day, they face a challenge that none of them are truly prepared to tackle: fatherhood.
While they consistently give their best on the job, good enough seems to be all they can muster as dads. But they’re quickly discovering that their standard is missing the mark.
They know that God desires to turn the hearts of fathers to their children, but their children are beginning to drift further and further away from them. Will they be able to find a way to serve and protect those that are most dear to them?
When tragedy hits home, these men are left wrestling with their hopes, their fears, their faith, and their fathering. Can a newfound urgency help these dads draw closer to God … and to their children?
Courageous is the fourth release of Sherwood Pictures, the moviemaking ministry of Sherwood Church in Albany, Georgia. Their first release since FIREPROOF, the No. 1 independent film of 2008, Courageous joins Facing the Giants and Flywheel in touching and impacting lives through heartfelt stories of faith and hope.
Moviegoers will again find themselves crying, laughing, and cheering—sometimes simultaneously—as they are inspired by everyday heroes who long to be the kinds of dads that make a lifelong impact on their children.
Protecting the streets is second nature to these law enforcement officers. Raising their children? That will take courage.
Courageous … honor begins at home.

Covering Letter to Pastors, Churches, Organizations, Newspapers, T.V. Stations, Radio, Christian Schools, Theaters… all across Canada regarding Courageous…
My name is Jimmy Broyden. In June of this year 2010 the Lord opened a door and I had the opportunity to be the Stunt Coordinator on the new Sherwood Pictures/Kendrick Brothers feature film called Courageous. It is due out tentatively in the Fall of 2011. This is the same church that did, Flywheel, Facing The Giants and Fireproof. The filmming was done in Albany, Georgia.
Stephen Kendrick was the Producer, Alex Kendrick was the Director and he played the Lead Role of Adam Mitchell. The acting in this film is superb by all the actors! Two to three RED Cameras were used simultaneously so the visual quality of this film is staggering and on par with Hollywood. We also used 2 Canon 5D’s. Bob Scott was the DOP – Director Of Photography (he did Facing The Giants/Fireproof) so the look of the film is the best it can be. Sherwood Pictures has raised the bar on this film.
Here is the OFFICIAL COURAGEOUS TRAILER as of March 2011:
I am a Canadian who lives outside Vancouver BC. I have been in the movie business as a Stunt Coordinator and Stuntman for 20 years and have done stunts in over 100 films. I learned my craft in Vancouver, BC on shows like X-Files, I Robot, Firewall, Air Bud, Elf…and worked with Jackie Chan, Will Smith, Harrison Ford… and spent 16 years there before branching out internationally. To learn more about me and my body of work please go to my site : www.jimmybroyden.com
My heart’s desire is to bring Courageous to Canada and put it in at least ONE theater in Vancouver and at least ONE theater in Toronto but if possible in more cities across Canada. Also, to have Courageous playing in a local theater where I live in the Vernon/Kelowna/Salmon Arm area would be fantastic. It would be great if enough churches, organizations, ministries, t.v. stations, radio, newspapers, Christian Schools and theaters got together and we put Courageous out there. Another goal is to make this film available for Church/School Showings where the film is shown in Churches all across Canada as well when it comes out on DVD.
I am contacting local churches, Pastors, organizations, ministries, radio, t.v. stations, newspapers, Christian Schools and theatres from Vancouver BC to St. John’s NFLD and everywhere in between including Toronto/ Calgary/ Whitehorse/ Edmonton/ Saskatoon/ Charlottetown/ Regina/ Montreal/ Halifax/ Moncton/ Yellowknife… all across Canada and in every province to see if this is something they would be interested in being part of.
Folks have been responding positively from all across Canada and are very excited about this movie. Opportunities for me to share about Courageous on tv, radio, newspaper, schools and to Speak in churches are opening up.

This is the first film Sherwood has done where they have a Stunt Coordinator. Courageous is a film about Fathers being the leader in the home and taking responsibilty in raising their sons and daughters. This film is very important to me personally as I grew up Fatherless having been born to a 14 year old mother in Toronto in 1965. This is by far the most important film I have worked on in my film career. The Lord dramatically transformed my life in 1993 on a movie set in Vancouver when a Christian Stunt Coordinator told me about Christ. I had been a drug addict for 17 years from age 11. Today I am a Christian man of 16 years and married with 7 children and have taken on and accepted my role as Father to my children in the Lord for many years now.
As part of my job as the Stunt Coordinator on the movie set of Courageous, it was my responsibility to make sure that the lead actors were safe when they performed their own stunts/action. We used no Official Stunt Doubles. If the actors had any driving stunts as part of their character I was behind the wheel doing the stunt driving… (Captain Dodd of the Albany Police Department also performed some high speed stunt driving down alleys and locked off streets and did a burnout/peelout). Now keep in mind that these actors which I did the stunt driving for are all approximately 6 feet in height and two of them have very dark complexions. I am only 5′7′ and caucasian. But tinted windows in the Police cars and the other cars along with various camera angles helped to keep me low profile and unrecognizable. I did the driving stunts for Alex Kendrick (Adam Mitchell) , Kevin Downes of ChristianCinema (Shane Fuller), Ken Bevel of Fireproof (Nathan Hayes) and TC Stallings – Ex Pro Football Wide Receiver (TJ).
The skill with which these actors executed their stunts was what can only be described as a blessing from God. The Lord showed favor on this film in all the departments… ie, hair, make up, wardrobe, camera, lighting, wardrobe, construction, grips, extra’s, electrics, catering,..and in the Stunt Department no one was hurt.
I was also given the opportunity by Stephen and Alex Kendrick to make a Cameo Appearance as the Pick Up Driver where they allowed me to do my own truck stunt with a 1986 Ford (straight 6) and deliver a few lines of dialogue. Alex was so kind to let my 12 year old son Isaac allowing him to call “Action” for one of the takes. Me and Isaac were a Father and Son team down there. He learned so much from the Kendrick Bros. and the crew about filmmaking. They and the cast and crew were very gracious and kind to him. We both shed a tear or two when it was time to come home. It was a lifechanging experience for us. You see Isaac is a filmmaker of 50 or 60 short films. He and his brother Jesse (8) believe the Lord wants them to make films to impact the world for Christ. So they are doing it. Their company is called Broyden Bros. Pictures. Isaac and Jesse’s favorite film made so far is The Bully.
Isaac just released a children’s trilogy short entitled The Adventures Of Jake’s Farm which is professionally done and on sale… here is the trailer…
Isaac is making his first feature film now that is due out in the summer. It’s The Adventures Of Jake’s Farm feature film.
He entered White As Snow into a film contest and came in 9th of 27 entries : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M99bl7Mtevo
To see more of his films and read his Bio go to: www.youtube.com/broydenbrospictures or
My Christian film company is called On Fire Films. Isaac and I are currently writing a script for a feature film Called, TESTED – True Faith Is Indestructible, which we desire to shoot next summer or the summer after that. Here is the teaser… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xRrK2-2lExc
Finally, I want to say that it was a huge blessing to be part of the Cast and Crew of Courageous and being with the local Church body at Sherwood Baptist Church. Meeting and working with Michael Catt, Jim McBride and the Kendrick Brothers was a real priviledge. All these folks made a big impact in me and my son Isaac’s life. I have worked on many big Hollywood feature films and television series since 1991, but this film set was very unique because it was being with the Lord’s family everyday. We did on set devotions every morning. Sherwood Pictures does not make films to make money but to impact lives and win souls all over the world. We were filmming with a purpose and with an end result. I have also seen many clips of the edited footage from the film which was shown on set and at the wrap party. We all worked hard and trusted the Lord on set everyday in the blistering 110 degree heat with 100% humidity. For a Canadian used to the cold and –20 to -30 degree celcius winters this was overwhelming. If this movie turns the world upside down, then the LORD gets all the glory, not us. I was just a piece in the puzzle and you can be too!
Being part of this film was an answer to many years of prayer. Let me tell you how good the Lord is. Me and my family were perusing the aisles at the video store in the fall of 2006 and I came across a DVD entitled ‘Facing The Giants’. It was a Christian film so we rented it. It was powerful! After we watched the film I prayed with my family and I asked the Lord if I could be the Stunt Coordinator for the Kendrick Brothers on one of their films some day. The irony, is that the Lord answered that prayer from 4 years ago and put me on one of their films, a film that parallels my own life growing up Fatherless, then fast forward to today, to being a Father of 7 children and being the leader in my home. As for me and my house we will serve the Lord. We serve an Awesome and Amazing God!!!
To be honest with you, this is the most important film of my life. It is the most critical film I have ever been part of to date because of it’s precise message needed in the world at this time in history. Lord willing it will be a pivotal piece in today’s family puzzle. If the opportunity arises it would be a priviledge to come to your area and Speak about my adventures on the movie set of Courageous and to share my testimony and what it is to be a Stuntman and have film as a ministry.
In closing I humbly ask that you please prayerfully consider how the Lord would have you help to promote this film that has a powerful gospel message and with the potential of seeing many souls come to faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and also to move many Fathers to become the leaders in their homes. And pray for the men who are in post-production getting this film ready to be on the big screen by doing the final touches in editing, musical score, special effects, sound effects, marketing, promotions and many other areas.
As of August 27, 2010 Stephen Kendrick told me that he and Alex are sifting through approximately 130 hours of footage from the movie Courageous and ask for your prayers as they continue to edit the film. They have about 1/4 of the film edited so far. UPDATE: As of November 21, Courageous has officially finished editing. Now as of March 2011 the film is officially completed.
Thank you for your time and consideration,

Heart Of Courageous – Car Stunt at 3:10 mark
New article on Courageous by USA Today – Hollywood is taking notice about this film :
UPDATE : Sherwood Baptist Church/Sherwood Pictures – July 30, 2011
Many of you know that as the Stunt Coordinator of Sherwood’s new feature film Courageous I had recently voiced my concerns to the leadership of Sherwood Baptist Church in Albany, Georgia (makers of Facing The Giants and Fireproof) regarding the Catholic Links on the Courageous movie website.
I talked on the phone with the leadership of Sherwood Baptist Church on July 26, 2011 and was made aware of the fact that SONY PICTURES and PROVIDENT FILMS alone and without Sherwood’s knowledge were responsible for putting the Catholic Ministry Partners information and Links on the site a month or so ago as it was SONY/PROVIDENT who had put the Courageous site together.
Sherwood Pastors were very concerned about this (as this is not the message they want to send (that they are in ministry with Catholics) and they approached SONY/PROVIDENT and had all the Catholic Resources Pages removed yesterday July 28, 2011. They had to draw a line in the sand on this issue and they are facing some heat because of it. Their love for the Lord and His word is the priority.
In that phone conversation I had with the Leadership of Sherwood Baptist Church, they assured me that they are not in ministry with Catholics and that they do not adhere to any Catholic doctrine, but they want to win them to Christ alone through faith alone, seeing them saved. They are not part of Evangelicals and Catholics Together nor subscribe to that. This indeed is very encouraging.
Finally : We are indeed awaiting and anticipating our Lord’s soon return for a serious and major falling away has begun. We must hold fast to the truth, stay on course to warn believers and win souls and follow the Captain of our Faith, the Lord Jesus Christ. He and His word have the answers to reaching our generation.
I have become very particular about who I work with (whether Christian or non Christian) and the doctrine they are promoting. Yet one cannot always know everything about these ministries and at first glance things seem to be okay. But over time either more of their doctrine comes to light or they shift/adapt to a different set of unbiblical beliefs. For example, the other day I turned down a potentially high paying gig (the money would have been nice to pay a couple of bills and buy more filming gear) as a Stunt Coordinator/Stuntman getting to flip/roll an RV for a local feature – non Christian film. It was a horror film which interests me not as I do not want my name attached to that film. In good conscience before my Lord, I cannot work on just any film as a Stunt Coordinator. I need to pay bills as everyone does but I will not knowingly hurt the Lord or His people. I will not sell out and compromise (this is why the stunt community in Vancouver BC blackballed me years ago) but will live on less and learn to trust the Lord more.
My family and I believe that the Lord has commissioned us to make films for Him for He has provided equipment which we could not afford as we humbly live on earnings from a small lawn mowing business I own and operate. We know that the Lord makes a way where there is no way. He does it over and over again, year after year.
Our films are loaded with truth, truth from God’s word. Films that first and foremost are made to win souls and encourage believers. They may not make much money financially but we will also give them away as we do now with the films we make. We do our best with the resources that the Lord provides.
Praise the Lord for He has given us a Film Ministry to make features, documentaries, film prophecy conferences, etc…whatever He would have us do, for His glory. One day I will have to stand before our Lord and give an account for what I did for Him with the skills, gifts and equipment/resources He provided.
My heart is captive to God and His word. I want to WIN SOULS!!! Please pray for me. I continue to keep you folks before the Lord that He will supply all your needs according to His riches.
I look forward to being in ministry with many of you in some capacity in the coming days. Let me know how I can pray for you and how me and my family can help you through our film ministry.
Thank you so much for your prayers and wise counsel.
Stay on Fire for Christ.

A new Christian feature film Courageous is coming to theatres across Canada Sept. 30, 2011. It follows the lives of 4 Policeman. This family movie touches upon an important topic, Fatherhood/Family. It resembles my story. Born to a mother of 14 years old in Toronto, growing up fatherless. Drug abuse began at 11 years old and continued for 17 years until I met the Risen Savior after reading The Gospel Of John. In 1993 I repented and put my full trust in Christ Jesus to save me from my sins. He broke the chains of addiction and began rebuilding my life. Today I am the father of 7 children. Have you put your trust in Him?

On Fire Films
TORONTO, ON, CANADA – July 27, 2011. Tricord Media, a division of Crossroads Christian Communications (Crossroads), is partnering with AFFIRM FILMS, a division of Sony Pictures Entertainment, and Provident Films, a division of Sony Music Entertainment, as the Canadian theatrical licensing agent of Sherwood Pictures’ movie, COURAGEOUS.
Crossroads is the home of the inspirational daily television series “100 Huntley Street” and has produced Christian media for decades. Senior Pastor Michael Catt, Executive Pastor Jim McBride, and the leadership team of Sherwood Pictures, along with Crossroads Chief Executive Officer Don Simmonds, and the leadership of Tricord Media collectively made the announcement.
COURAGEOUS is the fourth release of Sherwood Pictures, the moviemaking ministry of Sherwood Church in Albany, Georgia. Their first release sinceFIREPROOF, the No. 1 independent film in 2008, COURAGEOUS joins FACING THE GIANTS and FLYWHEEL in touching and impacting lives through heartfelt stories of faith and hope.
Don Simmonds, CEO of Crossroads says, “It is a privilege for the Crossroads family to partner with Sony and Sherwood to become the conduit through which Canadian fathers will be challenged to a whole new standard of courage. Our dream for Canada starts with churches and families inviting their neighbours to see this gripping movie, and ends with the dream of a nation of fathers who have decided to step up courageously to lead and love their own families!”
“The movie is about fatherhood and the title is one word: COURAGEOUS,” says Director and Actor Alex Kendrick, briefly outlining the plot. “Four fathers who are all in law enforcement—who protect and serve together—go through a terrible tragedy,” he said. “They begin looking at their role as fathers . . . and they begin challenging one another to fulfill God’s intention for fathers.”
That single-word title, Pastor Catt said, echoes God’s call for men to “rise with courage” in their homes and as leaders.
On September 30th, 2011 there will be a limited theatrical release in theatres across Canada.
