Heart Surgery

One of the goals for The JBDS FOUNDATION is raising funds for corrective heart surgery. About 40 to 50 percent of babies born with Down Syndrome have heart defects. Some defects are minor and may be treated with medications, while others may require surgery. Many countries around the world do not have a health care system or hospital facilities which provide surgery like this at no charge to the parents. This is an expensive, specialized surgery and many parents around the world can not afford it. Our dream is to supply the finances so that kids with DS can have this life saving surgery at a Children’s Hospital and live a long, prosperous, productive life. This would also include the cost for the parent(s) to fly in and stay with their child at the hospital.
